Yesterday we released MacGourmet Deluxe. And while it's not our "usual" kind of writing-based app, the response has been wonderful. I was asked the other day to describe the product in 20 words or less ~ here is what I came up with:
"MacGourmet Deluxe helps you create and edit recipes, make wine and cooking notes, publish your recipes as a blog, export shopping lists, plan meals, even create your own high-end cookbook."
Ok, that's 30 words but as you can see that product is jammed packed with interesting features. The Cookbook Builder feature is my favorite. Imagine having dozens of family recipes that you now would like to share with family and friends in a cookbook. With MacGourmet Deluxe, you can now (and rather simply) create a high res PDF with a cover, images, table of contents, an author's preface among quite a few other features. We even have a few print-on-demand sources for you to have your masterpiece created in actual book form.
If you are intrigued and want to learn more or give MacGourmet Deluxe a test drive, feel free to visit our product page.
Have a great day!
Mike

This sounds like really great software for writing a cookbook and I'd like to feature it on my website at www.recipeforacookbook.com. Sounds as though it's only for the Mac, though. Is there a version for PC users?
Hi Gloria-
Thanks for writing. Yes, it is a Mac-only product. Thanks in advance for the coverage!
Mike
I am a professional pastry chef and a big fan of MacGourmet. (I have version 2.3.2 from Advenio, and plan to upgrade to Deluxe.) It is like iTunes for your recipes! I have used the website importing service, and it works very easily. As of now, it only supports three sites (Food Network, Epicurious, and Allrecipes). But, the import takes less than one second, and setting the recipe up for proper categorization takes, conservatively, one, maybe two minutes. . . and you're done! More importantly for me is that I have been able to use the text clipping feature to import years of recipes stored in an electronic format. All you need to do is to get the recipe into a program that supports Mac OS X services (e.g., MarinerWrite, Pages, or even TextEdit). The total time to import and categorize recipes stored like this is, say, one to three minutes. If you are on the fence, check out Advenio's FAQ page on MacGourmet.com.
One question that I have about Deluxe is: Will I be able to keep the program on multiple Macs as I have been allowed on version 2.3.2?
Just paid for a download to upgrade to Deluxe. Was prompted to type in my current serial number, and did, which allowed the download. However, I'm unable to register Deluxe when I try to (the register button is grayed out). Hmmm... so I'm using it in demo mode at this time. Is this is bug, or perhaps I should delete my .plist?
Looking forward to using Deluxe -- my spin-though made me pretty happy!
Hi Piero & Tikipundit:
Piero-yes, we do allow one serial on up to two Macs as long as you are the only person using the copy.
Tikipundit-are you using your new MGD serial or your original MG serial? If MG, use the MGD serial. If you did try the MGD serial, quit out of MGD and try typing it in. If that fails, email our support folks and they can throw out a few things to try - support@marinersoftware.com
would like to try macgourmet deluxe software anonymously. your privacy policy states that I don't have to provide an email address, but your site doesn't allow downloads without full disclosure of name & email. What gives? Other mac software sites allow for anonymous download for trial purposes......and I can buy software at a retailer with cash and still maintain anonymity.
